The mission of the Honor Flight Network is to fly America's veterans to
Washington D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their
sacrifices. Priority is given to America's most senior veterans
(veterans of WWII) and veterans from any war with a terminal illness who
wish to visit THEIR memorial. In 2004, the WWII Memorial in Washington
D.C. was built and dedicated to honor "The Greatest Generation."
However, very few WWII veterans have the financial means or stamina to
make the trip to visit THEIR memorial on their own.
Honor Flight provides the veterans with a free one day trip to visit
their memorial. They also provide trained "guardians" for the flight to
escort them to the memorials throughout the day. Medical attention is
not provided. The flights, deluxe tour bus service, scooters,
wheelchairs, meals, and other amenities are provided FREE to WWII veterans.
Veterans of WWII have waited over 60 years for THEIR memorial.
Approximately 1200 WWII veterans die every day, and Honor Flight is
doing its best to give every WWII veteran the opportunity to make this
trip. There is a waiting list for these trips, but by applying now a
veteran may be able to participate sometime in 2010. If you have a WWII
veteran in your family or have a friend or neighbor who may qualify,
have them apply now.
There are several honor flight hubs in Missouri, but the most convenient
is right here in Union. If fact, this hub was the first Honor Flight
location in Missouri.

HOW TO HELP
Spread the word about the Honor Flight Program so that every veteran has
the opportunity to participate.
Help register a WWII veteran by assisting with the application.
Support the mission with your donation. Honor flight is a non-profit
organization. Honor Flight receives no government funding. Honor Flight
relies on donations alone. However, Honor Flight does not accept
donations from WWII veterans. They have already given enough.
